The already star-studded cast of literary adaptation "A Wrinkle in Time" continues to expand its constellation of talent, adding comedian Zach Galifianakis to the fold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Galifianakis has ed the fantasy flick as the character Happy Medium, described by the trade as "a man who is able to view different times and places." The film is based on the 1963 novel by Madeleine L'Engle, which chronicles a young girl's search across time and space for her missing scientist father.

In addition to Galifianakis, the cast includes relative newcomer Ava DuVernay ("Selma") is directing the feature for Disney, and both are committed to making the film as diverse as possible, with a mixed-race Murray family at the heart of the flick.

In a Nov. 1 press release, Disney also announced Will McCormack -- have also been added to that cast.

There are plenty of other quirky characters that still need to be cast, so look for additional exciting announcements in the weeks ahead. There's no official release date yet for "A Wrinkle in Time," but it's currently expected in theaters sometime in 2018.
