The "Game of Thrones" Season 7 finale sex scene inspired a huge range of reactions -- from ew! to ooh! and beyond -- including among the show's characters.

There are Season 7 spoilers beyond this point!

It wasn't a huge shock to see Daenerys Targaryen (Lena Headey). A particularly funny theory was that Tyrion picked up on the fact that there was incest going on after years of being exposed to it by his siblings.

Interesting as all those ideas are, Jeremy Podewsa, the director of the Season 7 finale, assured Mashable that Tyrion's reaction was more political in nature. As Hand, Tyrion's big concern was how this change in the queen's love life would affect her decision-making and his own position.

"Now Jon will more than likely have a larger role to play, and what kind of choices is Daenerys going to make now that she has changed the dynamic between her and Jon?" the director said, offering insight into Tyrion's concerns.

He added that for the youngest Lannister, "not being able to see what the future holds is a worry."

For his part, Dinklage called Daenerys and Jon's new relationship "dangerous for everybody involved" in a cast commentary video on the subject. He didn't clarify what exactly he meant, unfortunately, but he did offer an ominous hint.

"It's 'Game of Thrones,'" he said. "There's a long history of romance not ending well on this show."

Tyrion might not be jealous or planning to end Jon and Daenerys, but we're still worried about their future and (almost) everyone else's. For now, though, we're stuck waiting for "Game of Thrones" Season 8 to premiere in 2018 or even 2019.
